New to the profession. Which associations are worth it?

Most surveyors benefit from both national and state groups [1]:
- Your state surveying society: state law and practice, CE seminars, networking, mentoring and advocacy with the state board and legislature.
- NSPS (National Society of Professional Surveyors): national standards (including ALTA/NSPS), advocacy and resources.
- Specialty groups, depending on your work: geospatial, UAS, hydrographic, or construction groups.
- NCEES: not a membership group for individuals, but it runs the FS and PS exams and records services.
Getting involved in committees or local chapters is one of the best ways to learn and to find mentors. Our organizations page lists the national groups and every state society [1].
